DHOOM3 REVIEW

It’s been just 3 days .. And Dhoom 3 already has joined the elated 100 crores club and still Dhooming to break all the records so far happened in Indian cinema. Apart from sizzling babes and “unbelievable” stunts, Dhoom series USP is its protagonist and here it means the opposite, the villain of the movie. It started with John Abraham to Hrithik Roshan… And finally it had Mr. Perfectionist Aamir khan and that’s obviously the reason for Dhoom laughing loud at the Box office.

Dhoom has a story to tell…

Dhoom this time had little story to tell. Iqbal khan (Jackie Shroff) who runs Great Indian Circus in Chicago could not impress bankers with his best trick and thereby commits suicide. Iqbal’s son Sahir decides to pull down the Western bank of Chicago and begins to loot its branches bringing their stocks down.  Jai Dixit and Ali (Dhoom’s cop duo) has to do it in desi style to unveil the mystery of the greatest trick of Indian circus and thereby the robberies.

Aamir all its way…(Spoilers ahead)

With Aamir playing the lead, there should be something a twist in the script that at least gets his nod to the Dhoom which is otherwise more a style than substance. And the twist unfolds in between revealing that there are not one Aamir, but two, one Sahir and other hidden Samar, who is slightly challenged. All is well between the twins till Aliya(Katrina) joins the circus. Samar who fights for his identity and wants to be recognized by Aliya and no more over shadowed by his twin brother. Who better than Aamir can bring such a conflict so convincingly on screen? Of course Aamir has done many times the better roles previously but a small divergence in his role is hell of an act for his fans like us.

Katrina plays Aliya. In the year ruled by Deepika, Katrina has got this last chance to make her presence felt. Though she gets very few scenes, she captures the attention with the songs “Kamli” and “Malang Malang” . Unlike other Dhooms , this time she is only the actress and she might be lucky enough to be part of highest grosser.

Abhishek does his part just like other Dhooms. And Uday chopra who comes out of the den for Dhoom exclusively brings few laughs. Jackie shroffs and the Kid playing young Aamir are so effective.

Two sides of Dhoom…

Aamir’s BMW bike running on a rope… and Abhishek smashing Gunda’s and breaking walls with an auto... These kind of bombastic stunts in very few minutes into the film has given a very clear picture of what’s in store for us. Aamir’s bike even turns into Boat and goes up and down deep into the water and even flies in the sky. These kind of gravity defying stunts are first of its kind and even outlaws the direst stunts of some south Indian movies.

And on other side we had Aamir in the role of Samar... In those scenes where Samar writes his name on the glass and enjoys the few moments it stays there… And his thoughts when for the first time he befriends someone… And when he fights for the identity of Samar and his first date with Aliya… What not, Aamir infuses all the life into the Samar’s pain

In Total..

Surprisingly Vijay Krishna Acharya as director does a much better job when compared to his debut “Tashan” and incidentally he gave the dialogue and screenplay to Dhoom2. Sudeep Chatterjee’s cinematography is top notch and YashRaj films left no stone unturned to bring that richness to the film.

Nature defying stunts Or natural performance of Aamir, which side you incline to, makes you like or dislike this film. Dhoom definitely will not wholly disappoint thanks to Aamir and its grandness, but it does not has that “Wow” factor and it just might add a “Like” smiley on your face at the end.

Rating and collections

Dhoom “3” has got inbuilt rating and hopefully cross “3”00 barrier this time and lets wish Aamir gets his due at the box office just like his “3”Idiots.

Krishh3 Movie Review

This Diwali...It’s  Roshan's fireworks everywhere… as Krrish3, the 3^rd outing of Indian super hero comes to cinemas . Rakesh Roshan just steps up the quantity of VFX and budget for each sequel. Let me a share my point of view on Hrithik’s biggest film ever.

Plot: Krishh continues to protect mumbaikers whenever they are in trouble. Far away, a super genius and evil minded scientist Kaal(Vivek Oberoi) who is paralyzed continues to search for a matching DNA to get the bone marrow for his cure. He creates several mutants with the fusion of humans and animals in the process. On other hand he spreads contagious virus and later provide antidotes from his pharmaceuticals to raise money for his research. 

When Kaal targets India for the spread of the virus, it’s now on hands of Krishh and his father Rohit Mehra to stop the epidemic.

Actors:

This guy Hrithik who breathes only cinema has built 8-pack physique for this film. A dutiful husband Krishna and a genius scientist Rohit Mehra and a Super hero Krishh … Hrithik plays each of these roles in absolutely lovable way.  

Priyanka continues her role from the prequel. She makes her presence felt though it’s a very regular role. Kangana gets the much yummier part this time. She plays Kaaya.. A fusion of human and chameleon .. Who can transform herself to anyone .( inspired by X-Men Mystique) . Kangana makes best of it and she is fantastic in evil shades in first half and her transformation is believable.

Vivek Oberoi also has a surprise and he is very good till he is paralyzed and moving in a wheel chair.  We should blame the costume designer for his funny Halloween costume in the climax

Hollywood comes to India…

While all the mutants are heavily inspired by X-Men, and the Climax borrowed from Man of Steel , Krishh is largely inspired by Hollywood flicks. But still I liked the desi set up and loved to see this mutants wandering in Mumbai . And of course superb VFX shots made with 1/20^th or lesser budget of a Hollywood movie stands out.  Though it’s not innovative plot.. I don’t have much complaint on the story and screenplay either as that was least expected from an Indian Sci-fi film.

Drawbacks As I see..

Rakesh Roshan apart from the revenue from the movie eyes on some branding of Krishh3 accessories. So suddenly Krishh turns shaktimaan and starts giving away Krishh bands to kids around. It’s sad that such a poor costume chosen for Kaal in climax and that costs heavily towards the end. I could still hum all the songs from “Kaho naa pyar hai” and “koi mil gaya”, but none of Rajesh Roshan's tunes in this movie has the repeat value, though I liked the “Ye Dil” a romantic duet on Kangana. Climax of Krish3 hints about the 4^th installment . But this time , its better Daddy Roshan just stays back as producer.

Nevertheless …

Hrithiks brilliant Omnipresence and good support from all lead characters and fantabulous VFX rises above the flaws of the film. We have a history of pushing several ordinary films cross the 100 crore barrier. And So Roshans too deserve big time.

Ramayya Vasthavayya Telugu movie review

NT Ramayya has come to theaters for this Dusshera festival . Young tiger is always quickey and lucky to join the directors who delivered blockbusters. After delivering the blockbuster "Gabbar singh", Hareesh Shanker directed NTR for "Ramayya vastavayya" . Dil Raju produced the film.

Lets see what Hareesh has in cards for NTR..

Plot: Nandu, a smart and dynamic gets 'attracted' to "Akarsha"(Samantha). He quickly wins her heart and accompanies her to her sisters marriage in Coorg. By then Akarsha's father already has some life threat and continuous death warnings. 

Will Nandu able to save Akarsha's father and What's Nandu's mission forms the interval and the second half of the film. 

Cast 

NTR is king in dialogue delivery and best among his generation. and he just makes us realize with his "DVSK" introduction. He is one of the best dancers we have and he proves it in every song of the movie. He is good in comic timing ... and he manages all the scenes with no big comedians around. And he has track record in "Narakadam", he does that with no mercy in the later half. So NTR just blends what all he can do for Ramayya...

Samantha is getting hotter by each film and she holds that magnetism as "Akarsha" in 'Ramayya vastavayya', She sizzles in minis and her glamorous side is nicely utilized.Sruthi scores equally and looks very lovable as "Ammulu" . Though limited she gets the crucial part.

Mukesh Rishi plays key role in first half and Saikumar's brother Ravi shanker takes over in latest part. Ravishankers voice nicely adds that pinch of villainy. Rao Ramesh plays police and is perfect. kota plays senior villian and once again dies with heart attack.

Heroes friends  especially pradeep are very supportive. Popular Bamma  Rohini hattangidi has got some energetic role and she has some thing to say about NTR's grandfather NTR.

Both halves...

First half is pretty good. There is a good balance between Action and comedy and romantic scenes. Same time speed and Tempo are maintained. Inclusion of Ilayaraja songs in the romantic thread and mixing the sentiment with "Bamma's" thread everything gets in place. Though few could predict the interval twist , It is good enough to carry the feel while bringing in the popcorn into the theatre .

Second half gets into serious flashback. Sruthi Hassan makes it worth a wait while she is on screen. Though not very innovative.. Hareesh tried to pull it with style. But excessive violence over predictive story here plays spoilsport.Entertainment here takes back seat and forcibly pushes the audience into revenge drama in this half.

Crew

Harish Shanker delivers very decent first half. He creates lot of scenes to elevate NTR's dailogues. And of course dialogues in every scene are good. He concentrated more on action scenes and has given NTR, every sort of weapon in form of "Gadha", Axe and even "Nagali" . But not just the presentation, he should have brought in novel content. As he did not planned a hilarious film, lack of a new story is clearly observed.

Thaman's mass beats are as usual regular. But this time he has given two nice melodies "Jaabilli nuvve cheppamma" and "Eppudaina" .Both are pictured perfectly on screen. Movie looked colorful and should thank Chota K Naidu for that.

Good and Bad

All the positives of NTR for his fans.. and two beautiful heroines and very good first half are plus. Predictive and violent second half is minus.

Attarintiki daaredi review

కారణాలు ఏమైతే ఏంటి పండక్కి రావాల్సిన అల్లుడు ... పండగనే తనతో తీసుకొచ్చాడు . "అత్తారింటికి దారేది" అంటూ అమాయకంగా అడుగుతూ అసలు సినేమాల్లేక అల్లాడిపోతున్న తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులకి విందు భోజనం తో సహా వడ్డించాడు పవర్ స్టార్ పవన్ కళ్యాణ్  . ఆ విందు చేసిన వంటవాడు త్రివిక్రమ్ శ్రీనివాస్ అయితే రుచి ఎలా ఉంటుందో తెలీని వారుంటారా  .. !!

తినబోతూ రుచేందుకు అనుకునేవారు ..సరదాగా మెనూ ఏంటో తెలుసుకోండి . ఆల్రెడీ తినేసినవారు అరగటానికి కిళ్ళీ అనుకుంటూ రివ్యూ చదివేయండి 

అత్తారింటికి దారేదంటూ : నంద (బోమన్ ఇరాని) తనకి ఇష్టం లేని పెళ్లి చేస్కున్న కూతురు సు'నంద'(నదియా) ని కాల్చెంత పని చేస్తాడు . దాంతో కూతురు ఇల్లు విడిచి పోతుంది . పాతికేళ్ళు అయ్యాక తప్పు తెలుసుకుంటాడు . అత్త ని తీసుకు రాటానికి అల్లుడు (పవన్) ఇండియాకోస్తాడు . 

నక్క తోక తొక్కినా అల్లుడు కాబట్టే మేనత్తకి ఇద్దరు కూతుర్లు . సో ఇంకా కథేంటో మన ఆడియన్స్ అస్సలు చెప్పకర్లేదు . 

పవర్ ని ఫుల్లు గా వాడుకుంటే ఎలా ఉంటుందంటే ... 

పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ ఇంత వరకు ఒక సంపూర్ణమైన ఫ్యామిలీ స్టొరీ చెయ్యలేదు . అసలు చేస్తే ఎలా ఉంటుందో చూస్తే అర్ధమయ్యింది . త్రివిక్రమ్ రాసిన ప్రతి పంచ్ కి పది పది రెట్ల "పవర్" ఇచ్చాడు కళ్యాణ్ . ఫైట్స్ లో తన స్టైల్ ఏంటో చూపించాడు . ఇక మరదళ్ళతో రాఫ్ఫాడించాడు . పక్కన ఏ కమెడియన్ ఉన్నా సరే తన టైమింగ్ తో సిక్సులు పీకాడు . సినిమాలో ప్రణీత ఒక డైలాగు చెప్పుద్ది .." నీలో ఏదో పవర్ ఉందయ్యా .. ఎవరైనా పడిపోవాల్సిందే అని ... మరి ఇన్ని చేస్తే పడిపోరా .. 

సమంతా చిన్ని మరదలు ... పిచ్చి మరదలు కుడా . అబ్బా ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో స్కర్ట్ లు వేస్తె పెద్దగా ఆనలేదు . రెండో సగం లో చీరలో కోచ్చాకే తెలిసింది తను ఎం మాయ చేసిందో అని . ఇంకో స్టార్ తో హిట్టు కొత్తిన్ది. లక్కి గాల్ . 

ప్రణిత పెద్ద మరదలు ... సినిమా క్లైమాక్స్ లో ఓ కమెడియన్ పవన్ ని వాచ్ అడుగుతాడు . వెనుక నుంచి డైలాగు తీస్కోరా నీ గుడ్ టైం స్టార్ట్ అయ్యింది అని. సో పాపం ఈ పిల్లకి ఇప్పుడు నుంచి అన్ని కలిసోస్తాయేమో . పిల్ల మాత్రం బాపు గారి బొమ్మ లా బాగుంది . సీనియారిటీ లేక సెకండ్ హీరోయిన్ అయ్యింది . 

మర్చేపోయాం చోసారా.. అత్తారింటికి దారేది అని అడుగుతూ అత్తగారిని మర్చిపోయాం .. హుందా అంటే క్యారెక్టర్ లు ఇక నడియాని వెతుక్కుంటూ రావాల్సిందే . తక్కువ మాట్లాడిన ప్రతి మాటలో పొగరు .. ప్రతి చేతల్లో ఓ పద్ధతి కనిపిస్తాయి ఆమెలో . రావు రమేష్ మనకి మరో ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ అయిపోయాడు అంటే అంతగా జీవించేస్తున్నాడు . 

పవన్ సినిమాలన్ని వెనక్కి తిరిగి చూసుకుంటే పవన్ కి అతి దగ్గరగా ఉండే పాత్ర లో ఆలి ఉంటాడు .. అదే మరి స్నేహమంటే .. ఎంత పవన్ సినిమా అయినా బ్రాహ్మి ఫాన్స్ యూనివర్సల్ . భాస్కర్ అంటూ "ఆస్కార్" లెవెల్లో ఎంట్రీ ఇస్తాడు . ఎమ్మెస్ కూడా చాలా బాగా నవ్వించాడు . 

బోమన్ ఇరాని ముఖ్యమయిన తాతయ్య పాత్ర . కోట , రఘుబాబు, ఆహుతి అందరు బానే చేసారు 

త్రివిక్రమ్ తలుచుకుంటే ... 

త్రివిక్రమ్ కలం ఒక అక్షయ పాత్ర లాంటిదేమో .. ఎన్ని సినిమాలకి రాసినా ఇంకిపోదు . "ఇది హైదరాబాదు .. వెదర్ చాలా బ్యాడు .. ఇక మైసమ్మ్ తల్లి పెద్ద గాడ్ " లాంటి ప్రాస ఉన్న డైలాగులు  ఓ పక్క .. " రేయి నువ్వు చెస్సులొ  కింగు లాంటోడివి . ఒక్క అడుగే వెయ్యగలవ్ .. కాని ఇంట దైర్యం ఏంట్రా .. నీ పక్కన ఉన్న మంత్రిని చూస్కునే గా .. అలాంటొడిని ఒక్కడ్ని పంపు" లాంటి ఆలోచింప చేసే డైలాగులు .. "బాగుండడం అంటే బాగా ఉండటం కాదు .. నలుగురితో ఉండడం నవ్వుతూ ఉండటం " అబ్బో ఇక రాస్తే తెల్లరుద్ది కాని సినిమా చూడాలి ఓ రెండు మూడు సార్లు . రాజమౌళి ఆల్రెడీ అన్నాడు " త్రివిక్రమ్ సుకుమార్లు .. మనసు పెట్టి సినిమా తీస్తే నా కంటే పెద్ద బ్లాక్ బస్టర్ లు ఇస్తారని " సో ఈ సారి కొంచెం ఎక్కువ మనసే పెట్టాడు త్రివిక్రమ్ . థాంక్స్ త్రివిక్రమ్ గారు . 

దేవి "సిరి" 

పాటలన్ని  వినడానికి ఎంత బాగున్నాయో .. చూసేందుకు అంట రెట్టింపు బాగున్నాయి .. "ఆరడుగుల బుల్లెట్టు " బ్యాక్ గ్రౌన్డ్ " మోత మోగించింది . "its time to party " లో ఖుషి లేడి ముంతాజ్ ఇప్పటి హాట్ ఐటెం హంసానందిని జిగేల్ మన్నారు . బాపు బొమ్మ గా ప్రణిత కి మంచి పాట  దొరికింది . "నిన్ను చూడగానే" ఆసాంతం నవ్విస్తూ హైలైట్ సాంగ్ అయ్యింది . " కాటం రాయుడా " ఫాన్స్ కోసం . 

 కాకపొతే త్రివిక్రమ్ కి కొంచెం తిక్క కూడా ఉంది కదా .. అది బ్రహ్మానందం సీన్స్ లో కొంచెం ఎక్కువై రవ్వంత నస పెట్టింది . ఒక పావుగంట లేపెయ్యోచ్చు అక్కడ . 

 విందు భోజనం అంటే ఇలాగే ఉండాలి .

పెద్ద సినిమా పెద్ద సినిమా అంటే ఏంటో కొన్నాళ్ళు రుచి చూడక పోయేసరికి ఇవ్వాళే తెలిసొచ్చింది . త్రివిక్రమ్ పంచుల సత్తా ... పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ లాంటి పందెం గిత్తా కలిస్తే ప్రతి రికార్డుని తిరగ రాస్తుంది ఈ "అత్తా " . కాకపొతే పైరసీ .. ప్రాంత ద్వేషాలకి అతీతం గా మనం సినిమాని చూడాలి .

Zanjeer Toofan movie review

“Zanjeer” a remake of Amitab Bachchan’s classic marks the Bollywood debut of Mega Power star Ramcharan. It’s of course pressure in many folds, considering the young star holding the tag “Vijay Khanna” as it’s copy rights are only with Big B.  “Zanjeer” is simultaneously made as “Thoofan” to cater his Telugu fans. Apoorva Lakhia directed the film .

Lets get into little detail…

Story : Pretty simple.. ACP Vijay Khanna is transferred 22 times so far for his sincerity and upright behaviour with criminals. Now he comes to Mumbai. He fights against Oil Mafia and tiff with Rudrapratap Teja(Prakash Raj) .

Actors:

This is the year where a son-in-law of super star, Dhanush gave solid knock at Bollywood box office with Ranjaana and now it is turn of another son of a Megastar to deliver back with same intensity. Ramcharan sincerely gives a superb performance of sincere and diligent cop. He is always good in serious roles and he proved it again. He has created his own mark in one-liners. A perfect role for a debut.

So Priyanka is the only first,second and third choice for Big B's remakes. Role of “Mala” does not much suit Priyanka’s calibre. Her hair stylist deserves to be arrested by ACP VijayKhanna. Otherwise she is just ok and liked her only in songs. 

Srihari plays SherKhan, ( the same name in Magadheera). Seems that poses a problem.. Srihari is still in same dailogue modulation as in Magadheera.. and thus over-emotes in simple scenes.

There is a dialogue in movie “Older the man, stronger he gets” it is of course double intended one..said by Prakash Raj to his Mona darling… But that’s correct with Prakash Raj… he always entertains us. Though he has played the role of don “N” of times, He could deliver it for “N+1” th time.

Mahie Gill sizzles as Mona darling. She has few funny double intended liners with PR…. Tanikella bharani pitches in so well as journalist.

Crisply remade….

Toofan or Zanjeer tells the story very crisply… wastes just a reel at max. From the scene where he enters the screen with his dad Chiranjeevi’s poster on background and till the moment, Vijay curbs the oil Mafia, there is no look back. Few misplaced Songs and Priyanka act as few Tollgates in this highway.

Dailogues for Telugu version are very good. Run time of movie is kept short. As such story has no twists, there is no need for stretching it any further.

Nativity and Novelty is a miss..!!

For Telugu audience, nativity is obviously a big miss. Though there is presence of few Telugu actors, still the feel is missing. May be they would replaced a constable with a Telugu comedian to induce more comedy.

Tollywood audience have seen lot of bollywood babes in south movies… but in their own style. And that native style factor is missing for Priyanka. Songs should have been little better and background score is a big flop.

There are lot of cop stories so far and this one offers nothing new.

Finally…

Zanjeer/Toofan is a very good bollywood debut for Ramcharan as angry young man.

Toofan came as rescue at this juncture where no biggies being released due to current political scenario.But again same unrest in the state might dampen the result.

Zanjeer as Zanjeer might have been better than Thoofan, With the nativity factor missing.  Thoofan seems to be another Rakthacharitra with Ramcharan. With few expectations, Toofan makes just an ok watch.

Chennai Express Review

In recent times, many Bollywood biggies are churning out blockbusters out of south remakes. So it’s high time that Sharukh Khan should deliver such a mass hit. Instead of a remake, Sharukh chooses an entire mishmash of south Indian films and even names it “Chennai Express”.  Let’s see how this ride went?

Plot: Rahul(SRK) at 40 is still on search for a bride. The reason shown here is …he is busy taking care of his grandpa. Finally when his Grandpa dies at 99, Rahul promises his grandmother to mix the ashes in Rameshwaram. But he has other plans to join his friends in Goa.

But the destiny has completely different plans for him. He meets Meenamma(Deepika Padukone) in “Chennai Express”. She actually ran away from home to escape the marriage. Now Rahul falls in a situation where he has to accompany Meenamma to her native Komban village.

What’s in store for them in Komban village should be watched on screen.

It's called Chemistry...

Sharukh never fails as Rahul, so this time too he delivers that romantic “man” next door. He gets back to ease on romance, much energetic than recent JTHJ.

2013 can be named as Deepika’s year in Bollywood. She already has two 100 crore films in her kitty this year and now the third one. Some might get irritated with half-boiled hindi-tamil diction. But she maintained it with ease throughout. Her chemistry with her “om shanti om” co-star is once again picture perfect.

Tamil actor Sathyaraj as a selfish father is good. Other actor who played Deepika’s fiancé gets noticed.

Good and bad…

Like any other journey, this trip in Chennai Express has its ups and downs.

First half passes very smoothly with the introduction of characters. Train episode is hilarious and so are the Anthakshari episodes.  Cinematographer Dudley deserves a special applause for so beautifully capturing the scenic locations in south. You should watch that waterfall near the bridge.  Vishal-Sekhar have composed nice songs which are nice on-screen.  “Titlee”, “Kashmir – Kanyakumari”, Priyamani’s item number “1234” and Final “Lungi dance” are all hummable.

Story of the film is of course pretty normal and nothing fresh. And there is hell lot of inspirations from lot of south Indian movies. After a smooth first half, there is no gripping second half. Running away and getting back home, keeps on repeated with no motive.

Rohit shetty who delivered several blockbusters rarely had a story to tell. His forte has always been quick screenplay with right mix of action sequences, laughs and songs. Here too he plays safe bet with bankable stars and good commercial aspects.  

Board the train if you get bored…

Chennai Express is just like many other commercial pot boilers which are credited with 100 crore+. Treat it as like any other time pass entertainer and you can safely take a chance like me and be part of history.

Sahasam movie review

Firstly lets wish our “Kotta pelli Koduku” Gopichand, happy married life and then now get ready to know more about his latest adventurous movie “Sahasam” and check out if his lady has really bought some luck this time. “Sahasam” is directed by Chandrasekhar Yeleti who is known for some very special movies like “Aithe”, “Anukokunda oka Roju” “Okkadunnadu” etc.

Plot: Goutham (Gopichand) a security guard, who always dreams to be rich is every time hampered by his ill fortune. But one fine day he comes to know about the diamonds hidden by his grandfather (Suman) in Hinglaj Devi temple in Pakistan. He comes across Srinidhi(tapsee), a ardent devotee who is going to the temple.

It begins as a normal search and ends up as life adventure due to huge Kanishka treasure associated with it and our hero need to fight with a terrorist gang headed by Sultan( Shakti Kapoor) along the way to his goal.

Actors

Goutham’s character has a definite ambition and superb guts and the Gopichand with such macho image perfectly suits the bill. His one dialogue “ naadi kanidi koti rupayilaina nenu korukonu… naadi anedi arda rupai ayina nenu vadulukonu” sums it all and he goes to any extent to achieve that.   Gopichand has been passing through rough patch in his career due to some wrong choices he made. Sahasam should be definitely one nice one to pick up. He is lucky enough to work with such a nice director twice now.

Tapsee has a nice role and she delivers good act. 

Ali is fine and provide slight comic relief especially when the entire film lacks that section. Shakti Kapoor is adequate as Sultan and brings some freshness to the role of villain. Surprisingly Tollywood never bothered about this senior most actor so far. Suman is good.  A lady who played Saira and bearded assistant of Sultan gets noticed.

Sahasam – An awesome adventure true to its name…

He is not a silly director to just bring the things on screen for the sake of it. Chandrasekhar does adequate homework and he never disappoints his section of fans this time too. He just spares an half an hour for introducing the hero and heroine and gets into groove from there on very quickly.  

He cleverly connects the treasure with the ordinary security guard,Uses the heroine to bring him to Pakistan . Every action sequence is perfectly blended into the story and are shot extremely good. He stores more thrilling moments of treasure hunt towards the end. The last 30 minutes of actually the final and actual Treasure hunt is superbly executed with good puzzles and nice CG work.

Chandrasekhar Yeleti kudos and wish your dream of making films with Pawan and Mahesh become true sooner.

Technically brilliant…

For a splendid Sahasam, It demands a fabulous team. Sham dutt's lens effectively captured Ladakh and scenes in last half hour are perfect. Stunt masters designed superb action sequences. Few liberties are of course taken. See for example if hero’s every bone is crushed when villains beat him, It would be nonsense if he takes rest in hospital for a week and moreover, we actually expect to fire back immediately. The horse episode should have been linked to main story, but that actually gives way to only duet in film.

Sri, who worked for some RGV movies like "Money" series and also for some good movies "Little soldiers" before has given superb background score. You can actually feel it for important scene. He deserves more work.

No Brahmanandam and No item song… :(

Oh man, how can they miss these two essentials… Especially Brahmi lovers get suffocated for sure. And Mumaith khan admires will be disappointed…:)

Finally …

These kinds of stories are seen in Indiana Jones series and of course we too had movies like Anji and Takkari Donga in recent times. Chandrasekhar has tried his best to bring us Hollywood style adventure. He sticks true to the script and left no stone unturned for genre of this film.

Hopefully all sections of audience accept this grand adventure

స్వయంకృషి తో పై కొచ్చిన హీరోల్లో రవితేజ ఒకరు. తనకంటూ ఒక డిఫరెంట్ స్టైల్ ఏర్పరుచుకుని విజయాలు సొంతం చేసుకుని మాస్ మహారాజా అనిపించుకున్నాడు . కాని పాపం ఈ మధ్య వరస పెట్టి ఓ అర డజన్ ఫ్లాపులతో డీలా పడ్డాడు . కొంతకాలం క్రితం రవితేజ కి "డాన్ శీను " అనే ఓ మోస్తరు హిట్ నిచ్చిన గోపీచంద్ మలినేని మరో సారి బలుపు తో రవితేజ కి మునపటి హుషారు ఇచ్చాడో లేదో చూద్దాం . 

కథ : మాంచి అందగత్తె అయిన శ్రుతి(హసన్) ... క్రేజీ పనులు చేసే ఆమె మావయ్య క్రేజీ మోహన్ (బ్రాహ్మి) , లవ్వు గివ్వు అంటూ బోలెడంత మంది అబ్బాయిలని బకరాలు చేస్తూ ఉంటారు . వారికి బుద్ది చెపుదామని రవి(తేజ) రంగంలోకి దిగుతాడు . సరదాగా మొదలైన ఈ డ్రామా నిజంగా ప్రేమగా మారే టైం కి ఇంటర్వెల్ బాంగ్ ..దాని తరువాత ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ .  ఆ ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ లో అంజలి !!

సో ఈ రవి ఎవరు ? అతని కోసం "నానా"జీ( అసుతోష్ రానా ) లాంటి విల్లన్లు "నానా" విధాలు గా ఎందుకు వెతికేస్తున్నారో తెలియాలంటే మీకు కొంచెం బలుపెక్కాల్సిందే . 

ఎవరి బలుపెంత ?

రవితేజ ఎప్పటి లానే తన కామెడీ టైమింగ్ తో కాసేపు ... అలాగే మాసిన గడ్డం తో సీరియస్ గా కాసేపు చెలరేగిపోయాడు . రవి తేజ వేసే పంచ్ లు ... చేసే వెటకారాలు .. చేస్తే గీస్తే రవితెజానే చేస్తేనే ఆ కిక్కు . ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ అండ్ సెకండ్ హాఫ్ కి పాత్రలో ఉన్న తేడా బానే చూపించాడు . మధ్యలో ఒక మీటింగ్ సీన్ లో బాలయ్య బాబు మీద ఉన్న అక్కసును తెలివిగా కక్కెసాడండొయి !! మొత్తంగా తన నుంచి ఎం ఆశిస్తారో ... నిరాస పరచకుండా తన బలుపు ప్రదర్శించాడు . 

హిట్టు ఫ్లాపు పక్కన పెడితే ..  హీరోఇన్ల విషయం లో రవితేజ సెలక్షన్ ఎప్పుడు కేకే . గబ్బర్ సింగ్ లో జస్ట్ ట్రైలర్ మాత్రమే ఒదిలిన శ్రుతి ... ఈ సారీ కళ్ళ నిండా తినిపించింది . ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో చలాకి పెర్ఫార్మన్స్ తో పాటు పాటల్లో నడుముని ఊపేస్తూ మన సినిమా టికెట్ కి రెండింతలు ఖుషి చేసింది .

 సీతమ్మ గా ఆకట్టుకున్న అంజలిది చిన్న పాత్రే . సీతమ్మ వాకిట్లో కలిసొచ్చిన గొంతు ఈ సారి నప్పలేదు . ఎందుకో ఆ అమ్మాయి లో తెలియని నీరసం కొట్టొచ్చినట్టు ఉంది . 

అసలు హీరో తరువాత అమ్మాయిల కంటే ముందు మనం ఈ మధ్య కాలం లో మాట్లాడుకోవాల్సింది బ్రాహ్మి రోల్ గురించి . ఈ సినిమాలో చేసిన క్రేజీ మోహన్ తరహ పాత్ర, రవితేజ తో చెంప దెబ్బలు తినడం ఇప్పటికి ఓ పది సినిమాల్లో చూసుంటాం ..కాని తమన్ ట్యూన్స్ లా ఇన్స్టంట్ గా నచ్చేస్తాయి . తరువాత గుర్తుకు రావు . "సావిత్రి" గా ఆలి పాత్ర కి ఆ పెరోక్కటే కొంచెం కామెడీ గా ఉంది . 

ప్రకాష్ రాజు పాత్ర హీరో కి తండ్రి పాత్ర . కొంచెం ట్విస్ట్ ఉన్న రోల్ . ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ వెరైటీ కోసం పుట్టాడు . రొటీన్ గా చెయ్యటం పాపం ఆయనకీ కూడా కష్టంగానే ఉండొచ్చు . 

అశుతోష్ రానాని మొన్నేగా తడాకా లో చూసాం .. షూటింగ్ ఒకేసారి చేసేసుంటారు .. కనీసం బట్టల్లో కూడా తేడా లేదు . అడివి శేషుది కరివేపాకు రోలే . నాజర్ నుంచి తాగుబోతు రమేష్ వరకు ఇంకా ఓ డజన్ మంది మంచి ఆర్టిస్ట్ లు ఉన్నారు . 

ఇందుగలడు అందు లేడు అను సందేహంబు వలదు అన్నట్లు "పవన్" ని వాడుకొని సినిమా లేదేమో .... పవర్ స్టారా మజాకా !!

సగసగాలు  ... 

మొదటి సగం - శ్రుతి అందాలు .. క్రేజీ మోహన్ క్రేజీ పనులు , రవితేజ రిటొర్ట్  ల తో బానే కాలక్షేపం అయిపొయింది . ముఖ్యంగా సంభాషణలు ట్రెండి గా ఉండటం తో హాయిగానే అనిపించింది . ఈ సగం లో విల్లన్లు కొంచెం రెస్ట్  తీసుకోటం తో మనకి ప్రశాంతంగా ఉంటుంది . 

ఇక రెండో సగం ఇంటర్వెల్ లో విల్లన్లు విరుచుపడగానే నా వెనుక ఉన్న ఎవరో అక్కడున్న ట్విస్ట్ కూడా ఊహించేసాడు . ఓ గుండాగిరి ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ .. SP బాలు పాడిన ఓ యుగళ గీతం ... అంజలి తో హీరో చెట్ట పట్టాలు వేసుకుంటూ హీరో తిరగడం ( ట్రైలర్ చూసే ఉంటారు గా ) .. సో మీ ఉహలకి అందనంత దూరం గా ఏముండదు ఆ ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ . తెలిసిన కథనే ఇంకొంచెం సాగ తీసినట్లు అనిపించింది ఇక్కడ . 

ఆకట్టుకునే విషయం ... దర్శకుడు క్లైమాక్స్ మీద కొంచెం మనసు పెట్టాడు ... ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ నుంచి బయటకు రాగానే ఎలాగో ఓ మసాలా డ్యూయెట్ , లాస్ట్ ఫైట్ రొటీన్ అనుకోండి ...కాకపొతె ఆ ఫైట్ లో సరదా గా విల్లన్ల తో కూడా డాన్సు చేయించటం బాగుంది . 

టెక్నికల్ టింగ్స్ ... 

రెగ్యులర్ కమర్షియల్ ఫార్మాట్ లో గోపీచంద్ సినిమాలు బానే తీయగలడు . బట్ ఎప్పుడు రెగ్యులర్ గా తీస్తే నిలదక్కుకోడం కష్టం . తన వరకు తనకిచ్చిన కథ ని బానే చెప్పాడు . బాబీ అనే అతను ఇచ్చిన కథ లో పెద్ద విశేషం ఎం లేదు . తమన్ పాటలు ఇంకో రెండు వారాలు వినిపిస్తాయి . బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ ఎక్కడయ్యా తమన్ ?? డైలాగ్స్ బాగున్నాయి . 

చివరగా ... 

వీకెండ్ వచ్చిన సినిమా అల్లా చూసే అలవాటుండి .. సినిమా ఓ మాదిరి గా పర్లేదనిపించేలా ఉన్నా మీకు పర్లేదు అనిపిస్తే ఓ సారి చూడొచ్చు . రవితేజ మార్క్ కామెడీ , క్రేజీ మోహన్ బాధలు ... శ్రుతి హసన్ తళుకులు మీకు నచ్చే అవకాశాలు ఉన్నాయి .

"ప్రేమ కథా చిత్రం " టైటిల్ వినడానికి సాఫ్ట్ గా తీయగా ఉన్నా థియేటర్ లోకి వెళ్ళాక మన తాట తీస్తుంది . హారర్ లో కామెడీ మిక్స్ చేసిన ఈ సినిమాకి మంచి స్పందన ఒస్తుంది . కృష్ణ గారి అల్లుడు "సుధీర్" నటించిన రెండో సినిమా . అలాగే బూతు చిత్రాల దర్శకుడిగా పేరొందిన మారుతి దర్శకత్వ పర్యవేక్షణ లో వచ్చిన ఈ బూతాల "చిత్రం" ఎలా ఉందో  ఓ లుక్కేద్దాం . 

కథ : జీవితం లో వివిధ కష్టాలలోఉండి "ఆత్మ" హత్య చేసుకుందామని అనుకున్న ఓ నలుగురు సుధీర్ , నందిత , ప్రవీణ్ అండ్ సప్తగిరి ఊరి చివర్లో ఉన్న గెస్ట్ హౌస్ కి వెళతారు . నిజానికి నందిత తను ప్రేమించిన సుధీర్ ని కాపాడుకోవటం కోసం ప్రవీణ్ సహాయం తో అక్కడికి వెళుతుంది . అనుకున్నట్టుగానే సుదీర్ నందితని ప్రేమిస్తాడు . బట్ అక్కడే ఉంది ట్విస్ట్ , సుధీర్ నందిత ని తాకగానే ఆమెని ఆవహించిన ఆత్మ విజ్రంభిస్తుంది .  

ఎవరిదా ఆత్మ . ఆ నలుగురుకి ఆ ఆత్మ వల్ల ఎదురైన పరిస్థితులు థియేటర్ లో చూడాల్సిందే ..!!

ఎవెరెవరు ఎలా భయపడ్డారు ... 

ఈ సినిమా లో ముందుగా చెప్పుకోవాల్సింది నందిత గురించి . తేజ "నీకు నాకు డాష్ డాష్ " తో పరిచయం అయింది ఈ తెలుగమ్మాయి . కళ్ళు పెద్ద గా వుండటం ఈ కథ లో ఆమె ఎంపిక కి ముక్య కారణం . అపరిచితుడి లో విక్రమ్ ని పోలిన పాత్ర . అన్ని సీన్స్ చక్కగా చేస్తూ , ఆడియన్స్ ని బానే బయపెట్టింది . హరిత డబ్బింగ్ బాగుంది . మరి ఓ తెలుగు హీరోయిన్ ఫ్యూచర్ ఒక్క సినిమా తో తేలేది కాదు . లెట్స్ విష్ హర్ బెస్ట్ . 

హీరో సుధీర్ మాంచి ఒడ్డు పొడుగు ఉన్నవాడు . మొదటి సినిమా SMS కన్నా ఈ సారి వాయిస్ మీద ధ్యాస పెట్టాడు . తను డాన్సు బాగా చెయ్యగలదని చెప్పడానికి ఒక 5 నిమిషాలు మ్యూజిక్ బిట్ పెట్టారు . అక్కడ ఓ పాట పెట్టుంటే పోయేది . డాన్సు కేక . థియేటర్ లో ఎవరో అరిచారు "వీడు కృష్ణ ఫామిలీ లోంచి ఒచ్చాడా? !!" ఈ సినిమాలో చేసింది కొంచెం నిదాన మయిన పాత్ర . ఓ మాంచి మాస్ సినిమా ఒస్తే అప్పుడు ఎంత సరుకుందో తేలుతుంది 

కొత్త బంగారు లోకం లో పరిచయమ్మయ్యిన ఈ కమెడియన్ పేరు "ప్రవీణ్" అని ఇప్పుడే కొంచెం జనాలకి తెలిసింది . ప్రతి సీన్ సహజం గా చేసాడు . అలాగే సప్తగిరి , ఆఫ్రికన్ విగ్ ఒకటి ఎస్కుని కుమ్మేసాడు . ఒక మామూలు కథ ని కాసేపు ఆసక్తి రేకెత్తించింది వీరి కెమిస్ట్రీ నే .  వీరిద్దరికీ మాత్రం ఈ సినిమా మాంచి బ్రేక్ అని చెప్పొచ్చు .  

అలాగే ఆ బూత మహల్ లో పని చేసే ఓ మసి బొగ్గు పనోడు , ఒంటి కన్ను "పెద్దా"యన , ఓ జూనియర్ ఆర్టిస్ట్ పార్వతి మిగతా పాత్రల్లో చేసారు .  

ప్రేత కథా చిత్రం .... !!!

ఈ పాటికి ఈ సినిమా ఎలాంటి జోనర్ ఓ తెలిసే ఉంటుంది . దానికి సరిపడే వాతావరణం ఎర్పర్చడానికి మొదటి సగాన్ని వాడుకున్నారు . కొంచెం గా సాగ తీసినా ఈ సగం లో కావాల్సిన నవ్వులు ఉన్నాయి . రాఘవేంద్రరావు గారి సినిమాలో బొడ్డు ... మారుతి సినిమాలో బూతు వెతక్కుండా దొరికేస్తాయి . సో మీ చెవులకి డబల్ మీనింగ్ డైలాగులకి కొదవేమి ఉండదు . 

ఇక ఇంటర్వెల్ లో మనం ఎదురు చూసే ట్విస్ట్ . మొదట్లో కొంచెం భయం వేసినా ... రాను రాను దెయ్యం ఎలాంటి మొమెంట్స్ లో ఒస్తుందో తెలిసి పోయింది కాబట్టి అంత థ్రిల్ ఉండదు . ఆ దెయ్యాన్ని తెలుసుకోవడం, దాన్ని వదిలించుకోవడం లో చేసే ప్రయత్నాలు కొంచెం నవ్వులు తెప్పిస్తాయి . ఈ కథ ని అర్ధవంతంగా చెప్పడానికి చూపించిన క్లైమాక్స్ కూడా బానే రాసారు . 

జేబీ ఇచ్చిన బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ చాలా బాగుంది . పాటలు కూడా ఆకట్టు కుంటాయి . "వెన్నలైన వేకువైన" అనే కృష్ణ గారి రీమిక్స్ నీట్ గా ఉంది . ఈ సినిమాకి దర్శకుడు చాయగ్రహకుడు ప్రభాకర్ రెడ్డి . అయితే మారుతి కథ , స్క్రీన్ ప్లే ,పర్యవేక్షణ అని పెరేసారు , మరి దర్శకుడి అసలు ప్రతిభ ఏంతో తేల్చడం కష్టం . 

ఆశ దోస ... 

అంటే సినిమా గురించి ఏమి తెలీకుండా స్క్రీన్ మీద చూస్తె థ్రిల్లింగ్ గా అనిపించొచ్చు . ముఖ్యంగా సస్పెన్స్ సినిమాలు చాలా వరకు అంచనాలతో వెళితే నిరాశ  చెందుతారు .  అలాగే ఈ క్షణం లో దెయ్యం వస్తుంది అని తెలుసు కాబట్టి హారర్ కొన్ని క్షణాల వరకే . అలాగే అంచనాలు వల్లేమో ..నవ్వులు ఉన్నా పొట్ట చేక్కలవ్వలేదు . కొన్ని భయాన్ని కప్పి పుచ్చే నవ్వులు కూడా . సినిమా మొత్తం ఒకే ఇంట్లో ఉన్నా చిన్న సినిమా అవ్వడం తో విసుగు అయితే కలగలేదు . 

చివరగా ... 

హారర్ని కామెడీ తో మిక్స్ చేసిన ఆలోచన కి హాట్స్ అఫ్ . ఉన్న నలుగురు ఆకట్టుకున్నారు , ముఖ్యంగా నందిత అండ్ కమెడియన్స్ . వీపరీతం గా ఆశిస్తే నిరాశే .   సరదా టైం పాస్ కోసం వెళితే సంతృప్తి పరిచే సినిమా .

Iddarammayilatho Movie Review

Summer is coming to an end and so are holidays. This summer is comparatively dull thanks to IPL and lack of planning for releases. After few postponements “Iddarammayilatho”, the much awaited last biggie of summer is being released. It is second film in “Desamuduru” combination Puri Jagannath and Allu Arjun.   While Blockbuster Bandla ganesh produced the film, Iddarammayilu in the title are played by beautiful damsels Amala Paul and Catherine Theresa.

Plot: Akanksha(Catherine) , a psychology student comes to Spain. She sees a dairy left by her previous tenant Komali(Amala) in her room and starts reading it. She comes to know about her love story with a Guitar player Sanju(AA).

What is the underlying truth beyond the writings in the dairy? What happens to Komali ? forms the crux of the film.

Actors:

Allu Arjun looks ultra stylish in this film. He has given a neat and subtle performance. Though few, He nicely renders some Puri mark punch dialogues especially on boy-girl fundas. With lot of Mega heroes coming into films, it seems inevitable for Allu Arjun to remind his love for Megastar by dancing for the  tunes of Gang Leader and Shanker Dada. 

  

Amala Paul looks cute enough as Komali. In the movie itself Allu Arjun tells her “Abbo Kevvu keka antha kaadu gaani..nuvvu cute gaa untaavu” . She played her role well.

This new girl in the block ,Catherine Teresa is something to watch out for .  Though she went overboard in few scenes, she has got loads of energy. Her beauty scores brownie points.

Brahmanandam is good in first half. But his comedy track with Ali in later half breaks your head. Naazer, Tanikella Bharani, Rao Ramesh, Pragati , subbaraju etc seen in brief roles.

So nice First half and Not so second.

Movie starts very promisingly with the dairy concept. As the first half switches back and forth with love tracks of two girls, title “Iddarammayilatho” seemed very apt. Very neat screenplay in this half with rich visuals gives you soothing effect. While few could guess and few already know the twist for the interval, First half moves smoothly. This half has got nice songs like “Violin song”- so romantically pictured, “Shankarabharanam tho – Nice song on Brahmi” and “Run Run” –energetic number .

Like many films, here too second half stammers a lot . Audience feel that since interval twist is revealed and there is nothing much to say in this half. Few might walk away too thinking the same. Ali-Brahmi’s silly comedy track just sprinkles pepper on the wound. But Puri has stored a little twist towards the climax. That makes climax sensible and satisfies you if not otherwise. In this half, the last number “Top Lechi poddi” sounds exactly as the lyric.

Goodies and Baddies …

Not many punches from Puri Jagannath this time. Though he sticks to the storyline perfectly in first half, the tempo is lost during the second. Puri, who wrote hilarious comedy tracks before lost complete grip there.

Technical aspects shine very much this time. Amol Rathod’s rich cinematography, Devi Sri Prasad’s titillating tunes and stylish overall look adds positively to the film. Fights are wonderfully composed by Bangkok based Choreographer Kecha, especially interval and climax fights deserve mention.

Final Word…

Neat first half and stylish look and Allu Arjun and his “Iddarammayilu” are the best aspects of the film.  Slow second half might kill your enthuse for a while.  Not a must but watch it for time pass and goodies mentioned.
