Dhammu Movie Review

It’s been long since young Tiger NTR held either sword or axe to slay the villain’s heads endlessly…Might be dating back to “Simhadri”. So Boyapati Seenu who gave “Simha” to Baabai approached “Abbai” with a power packed theme and thus we have “Dhammu” that released this week. Keeravani scored music for the movie.

Plot: It’s a story of two villages that fight and kill each other every moment. One Village is headed by Crooked Naazer and the other by Suman.  And the story is all about NTR’s connection and arrival to these villages and how he ends this rivalry.

Actors:
NTR has donned a similar terrific role in Simhadri before and “Aadi” in very beginning. So this is a cake walk for him. He looks charming in that wide moustache and his role is seen with more maturity. Though there are no much sparks in dances this time, He spills out good dialogues in regular intervals and overall he has much better amongst his recent films.

Trisha looked older than NTR and is a mismatch. Karteeka looks always cause damage though she did well. Abhinaya as NTR’s sister has no much role as anticipated.
Venu is seen in important role and he better continue in such roles. “Sitara” pair Suman and BhanuPriya are seen as NTR parents.
Naazer steals the show to an extent playing the main villain. He is kind of big support. Ali, Brahmanandam don’t offer much laughs, Kota plays regular grandfather.

Dhammu Ingredients
An interesting flashback in the beginning shown in black and white, (of course almost allow guessing the climax). Goose bumping action-packed interval…some slight dose of sentiment…add few twists before the pre-climax…appetizing action packed pre-climax…and almost ok climax makes the Dhammu movie. In between we have these love track comprising 2 heroines who don’t care about NTR unless there is song to be played.

Boyapati shines in quiet some scenes…”where NTR comes to villains home in chariot and warns...” Interval episode...Preclimax. Keeravani has given very good background score.

Highlights
Trailers showing loads of action bits actually lured many to the theatres and they don’t disappoint. The interval block is one that surely gets some applause for the build-up and right execution. Pre-climax fight in the fields has almost similar good value. Dialogues penned to comment the “Ruling Party” clicked. Fans might be happy for NTR’s “Political entry” dialogues in opening fight. Among the songs, “Raaju Vachinaado” is very nicely shot.

Drawbacks…
Heroines though don’t have importance, they don’t even help to add the charm in their limited presence.  Thus songs became a drawback also due to wrong placements. “Ruler” song should have been shot in much much better way.  Some screenplay jerks and twists that are revealed actually don’t surprise the audience. Showing a huge violent movie and singing “Mustafa Mustafa” in climaxes don’t suit especially the high voltage action movies.

Finally
Action episodes and NTR are the major attraction and a decent story(not fresh one though) pulling the film to certain extent. Huge cast and lavish outlook is also a plus.  Movie with strong climax and improved screenplay would have been better. As Trailers already reveals 50% of good, do expect low and you might like it more. Surely a good one for B,C centers if not for A

Dhammu Music Review

Right now eagerly waiting for one of the most awaiting movies of the summer…Dhammu…starring NTR in a massy role so long after simhadri. Simha’s director Boyapati seenu directing this flick is like adding  fuel to the fire…and Maverick music director Keeravani garu scoring the music triples the celebrations…So just like an appetizer before the main course, Let me share some thoughts about the music of Dhammu which is already an instantaneous hit….

ఓ లిల్లి...బూర బుగ్గల బుల్లి....( O lilli...boora buggala bulli....)
Album starts with this simple but energetic number….. sung by Baba Seghal. His voice is so clear in Telugu this time, you might think one of our Telugu singer has sung it. Chandrabose lyrics are most simple ones with no much sparks…Heard that this is teasing song pictured on NTR and Trisha…But  who knows, with few listens’ you might go “crazy..crazy …crazy..crazy” about this number

రూలర్.....!! (Ruler)
And now let’s tune into the best of best song of the album…High voltage with high octane….and sure this one will raise your hairs very first time you go with this song. And believably, song is sung by 4 singers. It starts with a Stanza(sung by Prithvichandra) praising NTR. “anga vanga ..Kerala ..kalinga.. gowda..kuntala.. vidarba..magadha ..simhala..” and so on and finally claiming the hero as greatest ruler among all the kings..”prachanda chanda maartaanda teja”..”Akanda mandalananda boja”
But the real sweetness of the song is seen, when Geeta Madhuri hums..”Raajadi Raajadi Raaja”. From there Singer Revanth and Sahithi picks up the song with some epic lyrics….”Keratamai urukutunna churuku neede..” “kadanamai dumukutunna duduku neede” “Sikharame sirasu vanchu Keerthi neede” “Gaganame melika tirugu merupu neede” …This song tells the theme of the movie and has set the right expectations on the movie…Rumours are on about Ruler song, that NTR will don different attires in the song and Alexander is one of them!!

రాజు వచ్చినాడో....చిన రాజు వచ్చినాడో(raaju vacchinaaDO....china raaju vacchinaaDO)
Another beautiful situational song…Villagers sings this song welcoming their prince…And now this song is sung by MMKeeravani garu himself…and we know he picks the very right one to sing. Chandrabose pen “chamaks” while writing these lines… “Mee hrudayalalo Simhasanamu..Mee abhimaaname mani Kiritamu…Mee aasisule naa aishwaryamu…” ..”Meerantha naa balamai ..naa balagamai undaga, Santoshamaney saamraajyaaniki Raajadi raaju nenegaa”…And this song sings huge list of royal ancestors of that family!!...Chandrabose pulls in the lines from Simhadri ..”Sree Sree Raja Vasireddy..nuvvu whistlestey Andhra soda buddy”….He claims that these lines actually depict the energy of NTR….

And now time for the item Song…so we have not 1, not 2, not 3..but shockingly 4 beauties dancing with NTR…In addition to Trisha and Kartheeka, the 2 bombshells Rachana Mourya and Mariyam Zakaria(diyyalo diyyalo fame) shake legs with NTR. So Chandrabose has written song comparing 4 babies with 4 directions “uttaram oopu meedunde..Dakshinam danchi kottinde..Toorupu tukku repined..padamara pakka vesi paiki paiki rammande”. Had sufficient energy to be a good item and picturization should be interesting…with high dose of glamour…By the way Keeravani tweets..Vaastu baagunde is his personal favorite in this album..!!

నీలో ఉంది దమ్ము...నాలో ఉంది సొమ్ము...( neelO undi dammu...naalO undi sommu...)
Finally time for Title song…surprisingly NTR has to show his “Dhammu” not with the villains..but he shows his Dhammu in romance with our hot trisha…and sexy Radha’s daughter Kartheeka (Sorry I can’t add adjective “sexy” before Kartheeka..). Chandrabose sir has gone overboard with high dose of massy lyrics..so beware of listening this song at your home…He uses this words..”Use chesuko..Vaadesuko” from Dhookudu..Elders at home might even stop you to go the film..But in other way funny lyrics…can be enjoyed at dance floor…Rahul, Shivani and Sravana Baargavi have sung this song in equally enthusiastic style…

రూలర్.....!! (Ruler)…CD Version and Romantic Version
Wait..Wait…somehow we miss that melody, the core ingredient of Keeravani’s work..and he offers that in this romantic CD version of Ruler song ..
”Gulaabi pooladanda dandayaatra chesukona..chalaki paduchu kotaa paina…., Phirangi prema taaki pongi poi longi lonaa..varinchi khaidu nenu kaana..” Romance overflows from Chandrabose’s pen and the sweetness is “honey”fied by the voices of MM Keeravani and Geetha Madhuri.. I wish they don’t leave this song but they picture it onto the screen…at least at rolling titles…I will just stand there till the end of titles to witness this beautiful version of ruler..!!

So that’s the music of Dhammu…A story of Ruler. Keeravani garu a true legend ..who still could make such a massy album liked by the music lovers, beating the tough competition of young musicians…..
MM Keeravani and NTR’s combo always paid at box-office. And Lets wish Dhammu from the Simha director will yet again enthrall the masses…

Gabbar Singh Music review

Ladies and Gentlemen..Boys and girls and All the fans…here comes the “Power King” and we call him Gabbar Singh…. J These are the beginning lines of Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s GabbarSingh title track…Devi Sri Prasad scores the music for the GabbarSingh. Pawan Kalyan and Devi were together before for one of biggest musical hit “Jalsa”. And here’s complete gist of the electrifying tunes of Gabbar singh…

దెఖో దెఖో గబ్బర్ సింగ్...( deKO deKO gabbar sing...)
As we know Gabbar Singh is remake of Bollywood superhit “Dabbang”. It should be tough to match the title song in local flavor. Devi chooses easy way of scoring title tune reminding his “King” style and you should definitely listen to the beats that come in middle after 1st stanza..

Lyrics written by Ram Jogayya Sastri garu…“By Birthe pudingu..Power ke branding..high endu styling…veedi following mindblowingu…” tells PowerStars unbeaten craze. “manchonni gilla galaru..cheddonni gichagalaru…Ye lekkakandani naa laantodini kelikedevaru…” tells the Gabbar Singh’s character….This highly electrifying song is sung by Baba Seghal …Just spare the identity of "Singh is King" when we hear "Gabbar Singh..Gabbar Singh"..The title song is apt and sets the mood.

A Romantic melody that starts in qawwali style..Music in the  beginning is slightly inspired from Fanaa-Chand Sifaarish..but there ends the similarity. More than the song the initial lines will grab your attention… “Yem chakkani mandaaram…idi yenimidi dikkula sindhuram..yem methani mandaaram..idi manasuna nerpenu kangaaram..yem kammani karpooram..idi kannega maarina kaashmiram..yem vannela vayyaram..ika tiyyani premaku tayyaram..” Sung beautifully by Shankar Mahadevan and hummed by Gopika Poornima. Lyrics are by Chandrabose.

మందు బాబులం మేము మందు బాబులం...మందు కొడితే మాకు మేమే మహారాజులం (mandu baabulam mEmu mandu baabulam...mandu koDitE maaku mEmE mahaaraajulam)
Here comes the anthem for mandu baabulu….And surprisingly Kota Srinivasa Rao sings it, how come we missed out such a talented singer…and I am sure he “naturally” sang it. Excellent drums to amplify the feel.  Sahithi wrote this bit song.  “Taagubothante endukantha Chulakana…taagi vaagedi pachi nijam ganukanaa..” hmmm is it true…? Whatever really good one but most disappointing thing is, it lasts less than 2 minutes..DeviSri should have composed a full length song.

గన్నులాంటి కన్నులున్న..జున్నులాంటి పిల్లా...నవ్వుతోటి నన్ను పేల్చి పారిపొతే యెల్లా...!!( gannulaanTi kannulunna..junnulaanTi pillaa...navvutOTi nannu pElchi paaripotE yellaa...!!)
This is no doubt the Best Song of the Album. Starts with Pawan humming …”Ye Pillaa..attaa navvesesi paari pomaake baabu”..Later picked by folk singer Vaddepalli Srinivas in his awesome folk style…And you should listen to this simple, yet catchy and “fun”tastic lyrics… suberbly written by our music director DeviSriPrasad himself!!   He compares “Pillaa nuvvu leni jeevitham” with “nalla rangu anTukunna tella kaagitham” “aavakaya badda leni mandu kanna daarunam..!” “Break leni bikune rayyamamantu toladam” , “Tracku leni Train meeda kuyyumantu Velladam..” and highlight…”Pilla nuvvu leni jeevitham..noone lonchi..vaana loki jaaripadda appadam…”  and he also says..”okka jaanedantha cup kosam pedda World kappu jarugutaade..nee navulluna Lippu kosam chinna World war jarigina tappu lede..” and finally thats how Devi raasindu “navvu pai evvaru raayani mastu mastu paatani”…
And just googled and came to know Vaddepalli  Srinivas who sung this “Pillaa” is famous folk singer and he has his album “Kaliki chilukalu” in market. He might not look back now

దిల్ సే...దిల్ సే..నీ ఊహల్లో ..( dil sE...dil sE..nee oohallO ..)
My favorite song in this album…Super song..a blend of melody and fast beats…And who else can sweeten this ..none other than melody master Karthik…he is very aptly supported by Swetha Mohan..especially when she hums..”toli toli choopula maaya…tolakari lo kurisina haayaa…” we just fell in love with her voice…Do you know that swetha sung “kuchi kuchi koonammaa” in childhood  and now there are lot of songs to her credit. Coming back to song, Bhaskarabatla garu gave exceptional lyrics…
“PaiTa paala piTTa gumpulaaga egurutunnade…lona paanipaTTu yuddamedo jarugutunnade..”
“Bugga postcard muddu muddareyyamannade..lekapothe Siggu ooru daati vellanannade..”  lovely lines right…!! Tune in between reminds me “Manmadhudu” and that’s why I love it more..:)

కెవ్వు కేక..... kevvu kEka
And Finally we are here for the raunchy item song…and we have DeviSriPrasad the specialist in churning out some best of chartbusters for item songs…right from “Aaa ante Amalapuram..” to “Diyaalo Diyaala..”. And no doubt this “Kevvu Kekaa” soon will have place beside them… Mamta Sharma who sung famous “Munni badnaam Hui”  from Dabangg came down south to sing this telugu version…Her latest in hindi was “Anaarkali Disco chali” from Housefull2. In addition to famous words “Kevvu Keka” , there is some attracting huskiness in her voice that stands out and makes “Kevvu Keka” more endearing.

Sahithi took care that lyrics are catchy and massy and at same time not so vulgar…like "naa eedu kothimeera..naa soku kodi koora" And as you know that Hero enters the scene in later part of song…Murali lends for male voice tries to match energetic Mamta Sharma…Totally a Kevvu Keka Item number.

And that comes to end of Gabbar singh’s music…Good album with something for everyone…there’s melody, there’s fast beat..there’s an exotic item…and above all Lyrics take the front seat…That’s Devi for us.  Fans are thrilled with the album and Let’s wish Pawan gets another “Kushi” or “Jalsa” with his Gabbar Singh!!

Mirapakai fame Harish shanker directed this massy entertainer while beautiful Sruthi hassan plays the female lead. Movie is coming soon to us in mid may and trailers released have set the right expectations...!!

Racha Movie Review

It’s been a year and half since our young “Mega Power Star” RamCharan visited the Box-office. And finally he is back at box office to do some “Rachcha”, the title which abbreviates his name “Ra”m “Cha”ran!! He gave Sampath Nandi who made a small film “yemaindi ee vela”, the opportunity to direct him. White beauty Tamanna paired up with Cherry while Super Good films produced the flick.
Let’s dwell more into the film…

Plot(Not much revealer): Betting Raju (Charan)   is good in winning bets cleverly. And once he gets into big challenge with James (Ajmal-Rangam fame) to make rich girl Chaitra (Tamanna) fall in love with himself. Where this challenge leads him to? And how does he come to know about his past where his father was treacherously murdered is all the movie about.

Actors
Ramcharan is seen as easy going chap with lots of guts. With not much depth, this is character that has more fun made his job much simpler. With loads of grace in dance, he makes all the songs worth a repeat especially “dillaku dillaku”. He should excel more in comedy timing, as becomes stiff then. All in all, he moves forward a step ahead handling entire film on his shoulder. Superb job.
Tamanna has good role again and no doubt her charm will prolong the movies run. Look at her dance, she competes with Charan. And see “Vaana Vaana Velluvaaye” she just sets the screen on fire with her hip-hops.
Ajmal has decent but small role. Tamil Actor Partiban plays charan’s father, though brief he leaves impact. Same with Nazar. Mukesh rishi and Kota are good as villains.
Brahmanandam brings some cheers as dance master Rangeela...especially dialogues are funny. So are Ali, Jayaprakashreddy and Krishna Bagwan and of hero’s friend’s gang Srinivas Reddy and Tagubotu Ramesh do their part well. Dev gill of Magadheera is utterly wasted, may be Charan bought him for sentiment.

Ra and Cha of RaCha…!!
Initial 15 minutes into film with Hero’s entry and regular mass song and the slum set up gives you a picture that you are gonna watch regular mass film. So I guess you keep away other sensibilities. And now go to 80’s where rich girl challenges slum boy and then Chiru says “face turning ichuko”. I guess Sampath Nandi wants exactly same atmosphere here. So though there is no serious freshness, first half passes by with interesting challenges Tamanna gives to Charan and then songs that come in between and comedy by Brahmanandam.
Then there is an interval bang revealing some twists connecting the some childhood events shown on first reel when titles rolled. But still we have one hour of fun time in chases and then “Vaana Vaana Velluvaaye” and presence of Ali and finally twists are all revealed to audience leading to regular climax.

Sampath Nandi does the safe job.
“Don’t go for Variety loved by class audience…Don’t break your head with lavish scripts like Magadheera…Just go and touch the masses” I guess this is the job given to the director Sampath Nandi. And he does his job with no hiccups. Though there is scope for lots of revenge and gore, he shifts everything till last half hour and fills the movie with songs, chases and not too heavy fights and few comedy bits with many characters and all good artistes were chosen for those. But Climax as it becomes so routine might disappoint you, but there is no heavy plot there to shine at the end.

Manisharma’s songs are good on screen. All the songs are good on screen...”Dillaku Dillaku” and “Vaana Vaana” are superb. “Oka Paadam” is pleasant. Cherry though injured did decent job for “Singareni undi”. Background score is a big plus elevating lot of scenes. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is good. Dialogues are crispy and sufficient.  But some dialogues insulting other families should have been avoided as now this becomes a chain reaction.

Overall…
Seems the motive of this film is to be simpler and regular and make Charan dearer to masses.  And in that case this movie partially succeeds in a way where you don’t feel too bored nor do you feel excited after you watch the flick. A decent time pass with good songs, nice cast along with Ram Charan and Tamanna.

Rating
3/5 for it being regular film…but seriously enjoyed it with less expectations
